*** 2000 1.8T GTI SRS light ??? ***

Hey im posting this Q. for my friend Rob. He has a 2000 1.8T GTI and by mistake he disconected the side airbag with the ign. on. Now he has an SRS light that will not go out. Do any of you guys know of a way to RESET the SRS comp. with out taking it to the dealer and pay $50.
