Intake Manifold?!?

I have a 2001 Chevy Venture van with the 3.4L engine. The van has been using antifreeze for a while and I've just been topping it off.

Yesterday the van started running rough and missing. It is blowing white smoke from the exhaust. I'm certain that it is burning antifreeze. It is burning it about as fast as I can add it.

Is this a typical symptom of the intake manifold leaking? What should I be looking for to try to determine whether it's the intake manifold gasket, or heaven forbid something worse?

Thanks,

Gary

Yes take it in to a GM dealer. If it is the manifold gaskets phone GM and try to get some goodwill to pay for at least half of it.

Don't keep driving if it is

You may end up warping a head, and seizing up the engine
big money right there

A couple of replies in the IMG thread seemed to indicate that if anitfreeze was getting into the combustion cylinder that it was unlikely to be the intake manifold gasket. That's got me confused. If I was certain it was the IMG, I could do it myself, but if it's a head gasket, well that's a whole another story.

We're not driving it, other than to get it onto and off a trailer to get it home.
