Does anyone know of a way to disable the security system on a '93 Sedan Deville and have all of the other systems function properly. My security system intermittenly goes into alarm and I'd like to disable it rather than pay Cadillac a fortune to repair it.

Try reading the resistantance of the the chip in the key. Then find a resistor the same as that of the key. Take apart the The switch the mechanical part were the key goes and put the resitor between the wires that read the key. This will completly elimentant the chip inthe key. I have done this on several luminas in steed of fixing the problem. Be sure to use a good volt meter and be sur to check it several times before puting it back together all the way to make sure it is working.

Hey I have heard and read that Cadillac's after a certain year have problems with the security system (other than the chip in the key) when an aftermarket radio is installed. For instance, right now on my car (with aftermarket radio) the alarm decideds to go off every now and then (usually when I'm leavin the bar....) I have a couplew of buddies who have the similar Caddy's (98-99) that do the same thing. From what I've researched so far, it's because of the factory alarm being pulled out that these security systems start acting all funky. See what you can find out and let me know. BTW, it's not me being drunk leaving the bar that causes this problem as it's happened when I'm completely sober as well (maybe a total of 5 times since I've had the car in the past 3 months). And of course I'm not promoting drinking and driving.
