Turn signals blink fast, but bulbs are good?

Our 99 Venture left turn signal has been blinking fast for several months now, and our right just started. The front turn signals don't blink, but they do light up when the lights are on. Both bulbs have two filaments intact (only one lights up). The fuses are good. Our hazards blink at a normal rate (but the bulbs in question don't blink as hazards either). Any ideas?

Thanks!!

My guess is that you have heavy duty bulbs and a standard flasher. Replace the flasher with a heavy duty one.

Have you replaced any of the bulbs recently? If so, did the problem just start after replacing those bulbs? If so I'd go back and check the bulbs to make sure they are the proper ones reccomended for that particular use. If you did not replace any of the bulbs, you could go and replace your front bulbs and see if that solves the problem. If it doesn't try the back ones. I came across a GM vehicle a few years back with a similar problem. I believe (if memory serves me correctly) we replaced the rear bulbs as one was defective, but you really couldn't tell by looking at it as the filaments were still intact. A salesman told us that sometimes bulbs can fail without appearing so, and it can happen especially if you drive on "overly" bumpy roads where the vehicle is subjected to a lot of shock, and sometimes age can be a factor if the bulb wasn't in the best shape in the beginning,(poor manufacturing processes.) If that fails then look towards your flasher like silicon212 mentioned. (Or you can do what he said first and if that doesn't work try my idea.)

Do you have either the ABS or TCS idiot lights coming on? If so, it could indicate a short in either side harness connection to rear taillight asembly. You can then proceed to post instructing on how to solve that one, or I can help at cjstew4@san.rr.com. Otherwise, check for condensation/water in the light assemblies giving you problems. The bulb could be ready or has already gone bad. Then it's time for bulb replacement and small hole drilling at the bottom of those wet assemblies to let the condensate out. Keep us posted.

Your front lights should blink. The filaments will look fine, but are actually dead. Replace both front lights (next to headlights) and it should be good!
