Programmable Garage Door Openers

I just purchased an '05 base Deville and it has no programmable garage door openers. How difficult is it to add them? I haven't checked, but I'll wager that the pigtail is behind the plastic plate where they would be.

I'm wondering if the openers are a separate, self contained unit? I can't imagine that this will be all that difficult.

Anyone know??

It's called a Homelink, and they aren't very expensive, maybe $30 for a used on on eBay. Look for one with an orange light. It just pops into the slot on the overhead console, so it's very easy to install. Also programming directions are available off Homelinks website, and that is very easy to do as well.

Thanks for the input, I just called my local GM dealer and they told me that the pigtail is already in the console and that retail, new, is $132 and that install is only .2 hrs. Guess that answers my question.

Yeah, don't pay $132, plus .2 hours of labor! Search for a used one, and program it yourself, and save $100!

I've found some used, for 2002 back, but I'm not sure they will fit my '05. The install and program is nothing, I can do it myself and I figure my 'cost'
on the unit will probably be around $99. By the time you find one on ebay for 30 bucks and spend the postage, the difference is a non-issue.
