'98 P11 Primera GT: who makes the "Nissan" CD changer?blowback 08-28-2002, 03:22 PM I want to replace my CD changer with a custom MP3 player, and use the existing stock Blaupunkt (Nissan badged) headunit. However, the CD changer has no markings, other than a small "Clarion" logo on the casette. Is the CD changer then in fact a Clarion unit? And if so, what protocol are they using to communicate, a Blaupunkt one or a Clarion one (CBUS presumably)? cheers ant P11GT 08-28-2002, 05:08 PM theres not a lot you can do with the stock headunit. the only way is maybe use one of them cassette adaptors which defeats the object of using good quality gear and music. blowback 08-28-2002, 05:19 PM It must be do-able. Some of the connections between the headunit and changer must be line level audio after all. The tricky bit is figuring out the serial protocol to persuade the headunit that my mp3 box is its cd changer ;) I'm not that bothered about the audio quality to be honest (I know, heresy in this forum ;) I just want stacks o' tunes. Nice turbo ;) ant P11GT 08-28-2002, 05:31 PM the only idea i have is see if you can find a car audio repair shop, they should have the wiring diagrams for the cables. Your changer should be clarion aswell, so hopefully, you can get the clarion wiring diagram.
