Basic 4 Cylinder 2.0 Engine - Interference?dubrouillet 09-04-2006, 09:47 PM Driving 70 miles an hour down the freeway it appears I probably broke my Timing belt - now the car is in front of my house - will not start - and not worth much - we are trying to get a confirmation on whether it is an interference or non- interference engine (aka is it worth towing). Anyone know? dubrouillet 09-05-2006, 12:21 PM After calling 6 different dealers / mechanics - I called 3 in my area that I trust - (one being a ford dealer) - this is a NON -interference engine - I am goign to have it fixed - about $400 - I'll post if I find out something else :) pre98zetec 09-05-2006, 03:37 PM zetecs are non-interference motors. If you're mechnically inclined (doesn't take much) timing belts are very easy to fix.
