headlightshab fan 09-03-2006, 05:11 PM i have a 2000 neon and my headlights are discoloured and look yellowed. is this common and does anyone have a quick fix to remove film/scrathches. besides new headlights, but if i need new ones where would be a good place to get them cheap..... jason-1995fbody 09-03-2006, 06:22 PM walmart has a polish for headlights that works great if you do it right its around 10 bucks i think it should be near the bondo andsuch Wollf 09-04-2006, 10:34 PM Got a pair of projectors off ebay for about 150 they work great and fit nice with almost no tweeking if you cant polish them out. machete619 09-05-2006, 03:44 PM u can get these they look pretty good http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-02-DODGE-NEON-HALO-PROJECTOR-LED-HEADLIGHTS-BLACK-01_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33710QQihZ020QQitemZ 300023857554QQrdZ1 das2123 09-05-2006, 07:33 PM You won't get good light output with projectors unless you install an HID kit with it. Use Mother's polish or buy some Diamond Clear headlights. yale329 09-11-2006, 01:11 PM Just did it with a $20.00 kit Canadian. You will get four peices of sand paper, follow instuctions. Then I used a drlll with a buffer and course, "the red speedy rub". My sons lenses were totally yellow and scored, now they are like my 2005. Good luck Wayne das2123 09-11-2006, 02:13 PM ^^^Put a clear coat on it or you will be doing it again in a year or two. yale329 09-11-2006, 02:17 PM clear coat will not stop tht uv rays, think how it heps your car /// das2123 09-11-2006, 02:24 PM clear coat will not stop tht uv rays, think how it heps your car ///Helps it last longer... Actually compared to stock bulbs im getting at least twice the light from my projectors and surprisingly they still have a nice wide spread too them as well, only down side is the were made a little poorly and i had to put some washers behind the adjuster springs so that they will adjust correctly but its a minor fix. And i cant see spending 1k on an HID for a neon that only cost 500 bucks. das2123 09-12-2006, 09:20 AM Actually compared to stock bulbs im getting at least twice the light from my projectors and surprisingly they still have a nice wide spread too them as well, only down side is the were made a little poorly and i had to put some washers behind the adjuster springs so that they will adjust correctly but its a minor fix. And i cant see spending 1k on an HID for a neon that only cost 500 bucks. But it was worth spending $150 on headlights for a car that cost $500????:sunglasse I didn't say it would be worth it, but if you want the true quality of the projectors then an HID kit should be installed along with them. Wollf 09-12-2006, 10:59 AM ill let you know when i put the car up for sale in a couple months at $2400 if it sells it worth it... and i had to replace one of them anyway and they are going for 200 bucks each new up here so what they hey :) yale329 09-13-2006, 04:34 AM I tried a clearcoat on a older plastic lens and it actually spotted the lems. So I don't know if it is compatable with plastic. I also use a silverstar High out put bulb and they are really great, but your lenses still shoukd be cleaned. Better to share your thoughts than to see someone spend money they don't have. Best of luck Wayne Bear 09-14-2006, 10:32 AM PERMATEX sells a kit, but you can do it yourself a lot cheaper ( still wiil not compete with HID or Projector lenses, but a lot less expensive). 1. Buy one sheet each of wet/dry (the black stuff) sand paper in grits of 800,1000,1500,2000,2500. 2. Buy a bottle of MEGUIRES Plastic Polish (auto parts store). 3.Half fill a bucket with water and put the sandpaper in the bucket. 4. Use a sponge to really wet the lenses and then with the sand parer really soaked good go to work. 5. Start with the 800 grit paper and hand sand horizontally (keep washing the lens with water as you go and also keep the sand paper wet). Once the discoloration starts to disappear, switch to the 1000 grit, and keep on going until you are at the 2500 grit which is just to smooth the lenses. 6. Dry the lens and start hand buffing the lens with the plastic polish (any direction). Let the polish dry to a haze and remove with a clean cloth and see how she looks (more light snading or more polish may be required). I did this on my 1996 Caravan and 1998 Neon and the lenses really shine, the secret is to not use too much pressure when sanding and that is why I do not reccomend a power buffer. yale329 09-14-2006, 10:36 AM My sons headlights turned out fine, but hey!, if it works, everyone thanks you Just a Dad, Wayne hab fan 11-06-2006, 08:45 AM PERMATEX sells a kit, but you can do it yourself a lot cheaper ( still wiil not compete with HID or Projector lenses, but a lot less expensive). 1.
