Just picked up 95- Few Questions on Upgrades

I am interested in doing a few upgrades to improve performance a bit. Here are my questions:
1. What series or motor desigination for the 95 Supercharged? Series 1??
2. Is there an intake kit available that ducts air from outside the engine compartment?
3. I see a Pulley kit here: http://pulleyboys.com, but is a 95 Series 1 and if so, what pulley size is recommended for a modest, but safe boost setting. 11-12 psi?
4. Best recommended plugs?
5. Any other recommended upgrades for safety and or performance?

Thanks,

Rick

you likely have the series 1. read this- http://www.regalgs.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26380&sid=ba2e0e87be4d33b30a8ba8738e115833
and go here for perf. parts
http://www.seriesoneperformance.com/ (http://www.seriesoneperformance.com/)

you'll need a 180* t-stat, 2 range colder plugs (i recomend autolite 104's), gut the air box b/c there is no pre fab intake for ANY riviera. and please reread that modding guide b4 you do anything.

The 1995 Riviera was a Series 1 with no other option. The Series 11 was an option in 96 & 97 and became standard in 1998.
Go back to http://pulleyboys.com (http://pulleyboys.com/)and find the chart for the 1995 Series 1 engine, you will see several pulleys available with a chart giving approx boost psig.
NGK TR55's work well with the SC boost and the DIS ignition. They are one heat range colder than stock. Autolite also offers the "copper core" 104 that works well also,
Most CIA's terminate under the hood and use a "heat shield" to block intake charge from engine heat.

Are the Autolite 104's you refer to the XP104? Does the factory 95 come with a securtiy system? I am flying to pick up the car this coming Wednesday. I haven't seen it yet. Thanks!

In looking at the Autolite website, I see that they list the #606 as the plug to use for the 95 Riviera. Is the 104 a different heat range (cooler) plug?

yes the 104 is 2 ranges colder, 605 is 1 colder, 606 is stock. it should have a passive security system. congrats on your riviera. you should check out www.regalgs.org ,they have a good riviera fourm.

Thanks for the help. I am build this car to be my wife's car. She had owned a Riviera back in 92 before we met and she regretting getting rid of it. I don't believe they had a SC back then for the car. I know I will never make this car anywhere as quick as my modified 93RX7tt, but I am hoping to make it a reliable and quick sedan for her. I am still debating what to do about the intake. I would like to remove the OEM airbox and install or fabricate something that does not draw air from a hot engine bay. Since I have never seen the engine bay of a Riviera before, I will have to wait to see it in person and see what kind of job it wold be to duct in fresh air for the intake. Thanks!

most of riv owners who upgrade the ntake make a custom FWI out of pcv wraped in reflex. and use a k&n cone in the fender where the horn is. how fast is the rx7? i've seen rivs run 12.7 on juice. (not a series 1 riv tho)

I wonder if the stock airbox can be gutted and some flex tube attached and routed to through the fender to draw fresh air.

The RX7 is modified and running in the neighborhood of 400rwhp with turbos alone, not including NOS. I am not a drag racer, but I have seen some RX7s in the 300rwhp range run low 12's. Mine is not setup for drag. I am running an 8 lbs flywheel on Yoko A032Rs. It can be tricky off the line. I may not win off the line, but I can sure real'em in. The car is a real rush to drive!

your rx7 sounds sweet, and yes the stock airbox can be gutted on the 96+ riviera, im not 100% sure about the 95's but i dont think there is much difference between the setup.
