2001 neon shaking when stopped!juanito115 08-23-2006, 02:50 PM Hi everyone! My cousin has an 01 neon. His car hasdeveloped a shaking problem when the trans (automatic) is in Park and Drive. It shakes real bad, but it does not sound as if it wanted to die or anything like that! Recently we changed the spark plugs (bosch plat +4) and the ign wires to see if it would help but nothing. His car had a problem with the water pump a couple of months ago. They had to remove the camshafts and everything. I was wondering if maybe timing had to do something with it. The car runs fine and starts fine but its just the horrible shaking. You could almost have a masage while waiting for the light to turn green! He mentioned to me that when he put it in Neutral it would'n shake as bad. I would apreciate any help with this. Thanks!! BTW: 2001 neon 2.0 ohc auto with 70K miles! skatendestroy 08-24-2006, 08:39 PM bad motor mounts most likely. juanito115 08-24-2006, 11:11 PM Thanks! I was thinking that too! Any good way to check it? juanito115 08-25-2006, 06:34 PM today I went back to see the car and inspect it a little beter. We found out that it backfires when we rev it up. I'm starting to suspect that timing may be the problems of all that shaking! motor mounts were recently changed too he said! jason-1995fbody 09-03-2006, 01:42 PM remove junk spark plugs (bosch plat +4) put in regular replacements i recomend ngk but use any thing but plugs with multiple electrodes recheck the wires and check the coil Coil Resistance http://www.automotiveforums.com/alldata/MOTOR%7EV41270608%7EC35205%7ER0%7EOB0%7EP4R0H%7EN/0/80851247/83212521/83212536/83212538/34853741/34869961/34871505/42029343/87634536 Notes (javascript:notesWindow('http://www.motoralldata.com/alldata/MOTOR~V41270608~C35205~R0~OF34~P3R0H~N/0/80851247/83212521/83212536/83212538/34853741/34869961/34871505/42029343/87634547')) http://www.automotiveforums.com/alldata/MOTOR%7EV41270608%7EC35205%7ER0%7EOB0%7EP3R0H%7EN/0/80851247/83212521/83212536/83212538/34853741/34869961/34871505/42029343/87634548 yale329 09-11-2006, 01:20 PM It sure sounds like your timing belt jumped a notch.
