I was just woundering if anyone has any advice for me on my 95 SC2. It has been leaking oil since I bought it used but it was only minor. However, it recently began leaking oil so much that I was replacing 3 quarts of oil every week and a half to two weeks. I was told by the dealership that I need to have the top of my engine rebuilt but someone that works at a different Saturn dealership says it needs more than that and he will do all of the work for the same price. I took it to a small automotive shop and they suggested that I replace the entire engine with a low milage used engine or a new engine. I don't know anything about cars and I don't want to get ripped off. I need this car to get to work and to transport my children and I love my car. I just want it fixed and I don't want to spend some money now and some more later. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on how much work I should have done? HELP!

It's a known problem and the dealership is supposed to fix it for you. Check it online. There's a lot of people that gripe about it. If the dealership says no you should probably just complain until they do, do it.

Hey,
I was wonder what is the average number of miles for a 1995-1997Saturn SC in it lifetime? Thanks a lot.

Mines on it's 130k at the moment. But I also just threw a rod...but it was my fault, not the cars age, or maybe a mixture of both. Just never go from 4th to 1st on the highway :)

I'm having the same problem. I have a 1995 sc2 with 175k miles on it. I'm having to put a quart of oil every week to two weeks depending on how hard I drive it. I talked to a couple of places and it seems be piston rings are degrading which would require a overhaul, which is fairly costly. however I searched the internet and found a couple of places that sell rebuilt engines for a very reasonable price. you might want to price the cost of engine work versus buying a rebuilt engine and replacing it. Also what warranty will be included in either avenue you choose.
