I have a 1990 Buick Century 80K 3300 and have had problems with the check engine light and running crappy. It may be coincidence, but it only seems to happen when its raining. Has happened only in the morning. I limp it 7 miles to work and it seems to do fine after sitting 8 hours. I read the codes today and got 29 and 42. I have no idea what these mean. Any help is greatly appreciated. Oh, recently replaced the battery and had the alternator tested, but no help. How the heck do you get the front plug wires loose on this car?

Welcome to AF, the 29 is related to the 4th gear switch in the trans or the wiring to it, 42 is the electronic spark timing circuit in the ign module or wiring to it.

So...should I start by replacing the switch and ign module? Can someone PLEASE tell me how to get this stupid clip off the front 3 plug wires? Do I really have to pull the motor mount? Thanks!!!!

Check the wiring to both the ign module for corrosion and the harness connector at the trans first. Not familair with the exact issue on the plug wire clip, sorry.

the clip should just pop off if you are refering to the one that holds the wires together. You may have to push something in on it. otherwise you shouldnt need to take it off for the module ore its lead wires. hope that helps
