I have read the paot concernig the difficulty some have encountered when removing their water pump.

My question is when you apply heat to remove the water pump, where does the heat need to be administered? Also, when I replace the pump are the tablets mandentory or just a certain kind of antifreeze is needed? Please respond asap as my wife started her new job today and I have to have her car repaired before my son gets back in town Wednesday and reclaims his Honda to go visit his girlfriend out of town. Plus she wants her automatic trans back.

Thanks

I am not too sure about where you will need to apply the heat to the Water Pump as I am not that far into a similar project. (My tool used to remove the water pump won't arrive until Friday)

However I read that it is important to use the Engine Coolant Tablets (I believe 3 of them) as well as using Dex-Cool (which you can find at your local Fred Meyers or a automotive place) when refilling on engine coolant.

Others will argue though that it isn't necessary to use the Engien Coolant Tablets as it turns the liquid all mirky and such so its really up to you if you want to use it or not. (I myself will use it just because it says so in the manual and read from earlier posts that it saves a lot of trouble later on some how.)

dont heat the water pump. you need the special socket for it. the water pump needs to turn and partially "screw" in. you cant turn it without the tool.
