Cold Air Intake and exhaust would be a start to give it a little more power. I've been trying to ask the same thing with my 3.3 v6.

I already have a walker high preformance exhaust and a thrush turbo muffler on this thing already.
I wondder if I could get my computer upgragded on it and get a super charger along with that to?:uhoh:

I know that on mine, I have the 3300, you can put the 3800 plenum, injectors, fuel rail, and supercharger on it. I would then have to re-map the computer. I would if i had the time and money right now, but i don't.

You could get a superchip (http://www.pitstopparts.com/discount/buick%7Eperformance_chip%7Eparts.html)...at least for the 3.3 & 2.2

I've thought about that, but they are hard to find and I don't have a lot of money rigt now. Do you know of any others?

How much power you looking to get out of it, after all it is a Buick Century, not exaclty supposed to be "fast and Sporty":p

doberman_52

It is acctually quite a fast car for being dubbed as a "grandma car:icon16: ". I have only done exhaust on it and I know it can do 120mph. I'm not sure how much power I would want to get out of it but I do want to turn mine into a performance car, maybe a sleeper, drop a V8 in it.Do you know af anyplace where you can get performance cams, pistons, injector or anything else? Maybe around 400-500hp, if not, more. If I do, I would also remove the ac system and try to shave of as much weight as possible, add k&n cai.

sounds awesome...i know mine can do around 120 on flat ground, and i pushed it to approx 130 down a hill. what makes it fast is the great throttle response, and its o 3 speed w/ no overdrive.

doberman_52
09-01-2006, 04:15 PM
i have the 3 speed w/out overdrive but I actually think I was pushin 130 flat ground a few weeks ago, but i'm not sure. It's hard to tell with the stock 0-85mph old style gauge that is flat not round.

I hate the stock speedo, they couldnt've made it go at least to 100...:banghead:

BTW if you would push 300-400hp out of a century, what would you do about the handling???

doberman_52
09-02-2006, 06:52 PM
I don't think the handling is really that bad but I would mainly drag with it.

Ford hater
09-04-2006, 02:57 PM
For my handling I put preformance struts and shocks with my own custom mounts on it and it does pretty good for a so called "grandmas car" I found a super charger for it and got it I lokked at apreformance chip and the price was any thing but pretty But i finnaly got the super charger for it and found out the hood is to small there aint enough clerance agggh:banghead: but I took it out for a spin and it had great get up and go.:iceslolan

what did u do for ur custom mounts? Also another thing that u could do is get a different set of pistons and connecting rods to make a higher compression, put on bigger injectors (I might this month),lighten the car (not sure how though)just a few more ideas

Ford hater
09-05-2006, 01:14 PM
For lighting it Im going to use custom fabricated carbon fiber body panels it will set me back a fortune but it will make it lighter by about 200 lbs

doberman_52

I would but I don't have the money. Putting injectors and new tires will kill me.

true but up here in nebraska we would like to customize some of those little ricers but some are to beat up to do any thing with. so we just rest on these type of cars that you know that hasnt been abused.:pimp:

I finnaly got my carbon fiber body for my car so it will fly down the track this weekend cuz work sucks and it wont allow me to go to the strip and the area is crawling with pigs no matter where i go.

For being dubbed as a grandmas car it really is amazing. ive had mine (89) witha a sport suspension. 2 door. and yes my grandma actaully did have the car and gave it to me. they think thats really funny untill they see me peel out and waste them while i blow by them. I know its really not for that purpose but. When ever i turn it seems like it might spin out of control.... anyonw know why this might be?

doberman_52
10-05-2006, 08:54 PM
did it do that when u got it,I noticed after I had gotten mine alogned that the steering was really tight, after a while it loosened up, is yours tight or not, how good are your tires, and what speeds and type of gtound are you at.

My 89 buick 3.3L is producing 200hp right now. All I have is a whole performance exhaust and intake system with ram air. I wanted to know what is the best coils to get for the car.

And another question. I wanted to know if there is a manual rear wheel drive transmission for a 3.3L engine. I was going to make my buick a rear wheel drive with a manual trans and with a S10 rear end. Let me know if there is one.

doberman_52
10-09-2006, 06:21 PM
im sure there is a transmission that would fit it, if they made one for the 3.8 i would believe that it might fit the 3.3 or be modified to fit it, i was thinking about doing the same thing with mine but i have a 90, how did u set up your intake, I have a high flow performance exhaust on mine and would guess aroun 170 to 180hp, i want to put a better intake in hopes of evening my rich fuel mixture

musclecarfan6
10-10-2006, 06:24 AM
Thanks a lot man. First in setting up my intake, I bought a K&N High flow filter. Next I bought four pieces of house venting tubing. If you want to see some pics of it. Go to www.cardomain.com (http://www.cardomain.com) . When you get there go to search. Type in the search by keyword and type in musclecarfan6 and you will find some pics.

i am trying to set my cars up on car domain, a friend of mine put a water heater fan and cone style filter on his 86 300zx, it made it run really lean at low speeds though, i think i want to put mine in the fender though, anyone know how to lighten a buick century besides custom panels? 3400 lbs is a lot of weight to be racing with, i know a smaller sub box would be great, then it could be taken out while racing

musclecarfan6
10-10-2006, 02:44 PM
Well there is a lot of things to take off to lighten the car. You just have to know what to take off and can you live if it off for a daily driver.

Some ideas:
ac system
lighter rims and tires
back seats
metal panel under the trunk
metal panel under the back seats
passenger seat
carbon fiber hood is the best idea

Those are some ideas, you just need to find what you don't need on the car anymore and can you live with it like that as a daily driver.

Now I have a question. I want to know what are the best spark plugs I can put in my car for parformance and gas milage.

doberman_52
10-10-2006, 11:20 PM
i was planing on putting a smaller belt on during the winter to get rid of the ac pull on the motor (more power too) and may keep it off next sumer if i still have the car, if i did that i would then tear out the ac system (i am looking at geting a 89-94 nissan 240sx in about 4 to 6 months now, my friend wants to buy this to turn into a sleeper), ive thought about cuting out the wheel well for the spare tire and puting a metel sheet over it (is that the metal panel under the trunk?), removing the backseat and braces (parents would kill me if i did though), getting a smaller, custom sub box, i just dont have a lot of time with my senior project in which i am rebuilding a 58 gmc pickup, and im not sur what rims would be lighter than what coms stock except maybe aluminum alloy, and i dont have a lot of money right now, as for ur question; i have absalutley no idea, i didnt think a set of spark plugs would mater for gas milage but for power somewhat, i would guess maybe platinum +2 or +4 for better combustion but otherwise im not sure, i just have cheap autolites, but then i get about 17 - 18 mpg on my 3.3

musclecarfan6
10-11-2006, 06:14 AM
ok. Thanks man. I saw some E3 spark plugs I might get. I get about 20mpg right now on my 3.3L.

90BuickSlab
10-11-2006, 09:59 PM
i have the platinum 4's and they work great, im not sure about any power increase, my car has had only platinum 4's in it since ive owned it.

musclecarfan6
10-12-2006, 02:39 PM
I was also thinking of putting splitfire plugs in it.

doberman_52
10-12-2006, 04:12 PM
I might sell mine to a friend and we'll turn it into an enduro racer and i am going to buy a 240sx, i hope that this will be a good racer, otherwise it will be turned into a sleeper

10-13-2006, 06:06 AM
What kind of hp are you running in that buick.

doberman_52
10-13-2006, 08:27 AM
i am guessing around 170 - 180 but i am not sure, i am going to lighten it up a bi this weekend

u get ur vibration in the front end fixed

musclecarfan6
10-15-2006, 05:16 PM
Yea, I got the front end vibration fixed. It turned out to be the belts in the tire was bad. I also put some splitfire plugs in my car. Makes the car drive so much better. I also gain about 3 more mpg on my car. Now all thats left to fix is my glovebox door. It won't stay shut.

90BuickSlab
10-16-2006, 08:27 PM
my glove box door only closes half way, and rattles like shit, from my bass and from bumps..if u have the same problem tell me how u fixed it cuz mine looks ok just doesnt seem to close all the way. thanks.

doberman_52

it shouldn't cost to much to ship one what color is your interior, there are quite a few around here, i might be able to find one for you.
