Hi there,
I was woundering if anyone knows any aftermarket places i could get an exhaus. system with the headers for the new E46 M3 or any type of lost cost engine tunning for my Bimmer? I was planning on adding the Dinan software to my new M3 so that the garentee would still be what do u think about it ppl or should i go for another company, but u see the problem is that only Dinan is supported by our dealership here back in Oman. I am waitting for my new M3 SMGII to arrive i guess its going to arrive here in late Oct. Well basically my goal is to run with a Porsche 996 twin turbo from 40km/h till the end so plz give me some help in this coz i am new but i do know alittle about somethings in tunning.

Thank You

You can't run with Porsche 911 Turbo with just exhuast, header and ecu upgrade on E46 M3. You'll need a lot more help than that.

Why don't you get a Z06 405 hp to start with? It is a lot easier that way.

if it was just a plain 911 than you could beat it stock without doing anything to the M3

Well for beginers I would start with these and i know there is a along way ahead. My friend has Mustang GT '01 model but i think with the things he is going to put on his car it would be able to keep up with a Porsche 996 Twin Turbo, So i dont see why can't I. Would the headers and exhauset system take away the factory warntee ?

What did your friend do to the Mustang GT. He would need a lot of work to be able to keep up with Porsche 911 Turbo. What is his 0-60 and 1/4 mile time? You have to remember E46 M3 is highly tuned by BMW already. Changing exhuast and header does not void the whole warranty. It only voids the warranty of the parts you changed. For example later your engine breaks down. If it break down because you changed the header then your warranty is void. If it isn't because of what you changed then your warranty is in tact.

Hi 0-60 time is somewhere in the low 5s and the 1/4 mile is around the low 14s but this was be4 adding stuff on but as soon as he does it i will measure it and tell yeah coz his latest power pakage has arrived including a super.

To beat a 911 Turbo he needs to run mid to high 3's. A Supercharger alone won't put him there.

SMG2 is the 11 stage F1 pedal shifter from BMW. It shifts .01 second faster than Ferrari's F1. What do you own?

E36 M3 that was a great car. Almost bought one but couldn't find the Euro Specs so I decide to wave it off.

SMG2 is 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. 19 inch wheel option is only available in Europe I believe.

SMG2 is faster than 6 speed manual.

wow! that's impressive, i still wouldn't give up the clutch and 6 speed manual just for the overall joy of driving.... but if i was seriously into racing i would probably go for the smg...

Well if the 6 speed manual box does 0-60 in 4.7 secs how and according to what i have read the SMGII should be faster then 4.7 > thats a nice number to play around with. Cant wait till i get my SMGII and give u guyz the timings.... :smoker2:

SMG is only slightly faster than 6 speed. Like a difference of 4.7 to 4.8 seconds. Stage 11 on SMG2 is simply amazing.

is the SMGII out in the US...because i was on the BMW website checking out the new M3 and it only said "SMG" not "SMGII" , where would u get the SMGII from, and what does "stage 11" mean?

First of all: Do not revive old threads. This one dates all the way back to 2001...
