Why I run DR's as street tires Mr. Luos 08-20-2006, 12:39 PM
Because traction is slightly limited with a regular street tire. The tires were 'donated' by a friend. Nitto 555r streets with good tread. http://home.comcast.net/~mrluosss/streets.wmv Only the gas pedal was used in first. Clutch was fully engaged. Honestly, while it is fun this way, it isn't safe. I could feel that they wanted to break loose if I was in 3rd gear around 4500 and I punched it. That is moving around 60 MPH. It would bark them HARD into 4th gear at 85 MPH too. And that wasn't taking it to redline in 3rd. goldz28 08-20-2006, 01:39 PM Because traction is slightly limited with a regular street tire. The tires were 'donated' by a friend. Then shift into 2nd...and bounce of the rev limiter almost immediately. goldz28 08-20-2006, 01:53 PM Nice. So your street tires you run are the Nitto's? Or you run drag radial for street also? Edit- I can do the same thing in the ice...lol Mr. Luos 08-20-2006, 02:04 PM I normally run the Nitto DR's on the street. I had a friend get me these Nitto 555r street tires for a little fun. Also got a new burnout shot...another 4th gear smokeshow. Much better...car doesn't get covered in smoke this time. All I need to do is get a little more filler footage and make a new longer vid. 666_speed 08-20-2006, 11:55 PM Yay, video! goldz28 08-21-2006, 12:17 AM Yay, video! :iamwithst Mr. Luos 08-21-2006, 06:44 PM Those tires were for a little of this action...again. Sorry about the pic being a little blurry...it is a frame from the vid. http://www.arbybean.com/ar/images/smokey.JPG skibum1111 08-21-2006, 07:33 PM I have a pic like that of one of my buddies doing that with a 99 sliverado, looks really cool. I'm lovin' it! skibum1111 08-22-2006, 09:29 PM You do realize that if you ever bend that car alot of people here are going to cry with you? doodad 08-24-2006, 08:16 PM Built for the street. Drag radials are street tires... :grinyes: no way man!! l would have killed someone or myself already in that thing.. :) be careful man, dont let any dumb driver to rear end you like one of them did to me. u got some $$ on it.. ;) Mr. Luos 08-25-2006, 05:58 PM It doesn't get that much time on the street right now. I seem to have a slight leak from one of my axle bearings, so I need to take care of that soon. Otherwise, I am very careful when I am out in that car. Just look at how easy it breaks a street tire loose. You have to be on your toes driving it. Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
