2002 Loredo, 4.0L, 45K developed hissing sound coming from top of the gas tank. Any idea what could cause it?

Did you recently change gas caps if you did probably wrong type . If you didn't I would change the gas cap maybe not letting or building up pressure and is faulty that all I can think of.

Possibly a fuel pump might be going bad???

Could it be an exhaust leak that sounds like it's coming from the gas tank?
