My 2002 Venture right hand side passenger window won't go down when i push the button. Does anyone know what i can do about this problem? and if anyone else is experiencing the same problem and can share their experience would be great! thank you.

Does it work from one side (control) and not the other? Mine did this, and it turned out to be the switch itself. They are rather easy to replace - just pick one up from the dealership. If not, then it may be a motor or control circuit issue...

Peace,
Blane

My 2001 Right side window wont go up. The switch doesn't work from either side. I also checked the fuses but they are all fine. Does any one know how to remove the door panels so that I can check the motor itself? Thanks in advance

The right window doesn't work from both switches. Yesterday it worked once, it went down and up, and we parked the car. After we got back to the car, the window does not work again, i have no clue whats wrong. Any help appreciated.

Where is the control circuit? That sounds like it may be an easier fix than the motor. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just recently FINALLY found the problem with my wife's 97 Venture power windows. For the passenger side, the wires were cracked where the door opens, inside the rubber boot between the door and the body on the driver's side. IIRC, it was the large light blue wire. For the driver's side, it was the plug where it goes into the window motor. If the plug was pushed in all the way, the window would not work. If I pulled it out a little, it worked. I cleaned the contacts and bent the tabs a little so they would make better contact. So far they both seem to be working.

I got mine to work... sort of. I took the panels off the doors and removed the connector to the motor. I then took speaker wires and found out which ones rolled the window down. I then took the speaker wires and connected them to the up side for the motor and the window rolled up fine. Now the only problem is figureing out a permanet fix.

Any suggestions?

xhadow, check the wires inside the boot between the doors and the body. My wires were cracked and broken there on the driver's side. The wires for the passenger window also run through the driver's side, I believe it's a large light blue wire. I had to cut the bad section (very short piece) and put a butt connector in. The boot just pulls out from the door, it's easy to put back in. It's easier if you have the door panel off so you can get enough wire out to work with.

I am currently away from home but I will try that as soon as I get there on friday... That sounds like it would make sense. I will have to take the door panel off anyway since I left the passenger window disconnected. (Didn't want any accidents while I was away.)

My right window magically on its own started to work agaiN!!! YAY!!! did nothing to the circuit or anything, and did not take the door panel apart, the window was fixed by itself. Can anyone explain this miracle?

Sounds like an intermitant connection somewhere. These can occur on spade stake on connectors perhaps at the switch. Perhaps a shock of the right amount while driving has temporarilly made the connection good again.................for a while.

Like the last one said, it will work for a while then stop again. Mine did the same not working then all of the sudden, works fine. It will fail again. When it does, go get yourself the left side (Driver's Side) two-up power window toggle. That is 90% or better your problem because the contacts are worn for the PS toggle. Don't try fixing the contacts because you can't. There internal to the switch. To replace, I pried up the little cover plate, pulled up and out the toggle, detached it in the dealer service/parts area, plugged the new one in to make sure it was the problem, it was, replaced the cover and off I went. Keep us posted when it fails again and what worked to fix it.

I have a '99 Venture and the left side window stopped working. I live in Maine and the temperatures are suppose to be single digits tomorrow.

I know that other makes have a means of putting the window up in an emergency (I believe a hex head for a wrench), but Chevy (at least the Venture) does not. However, there is a way...

After removing the door panel and plastic skin, disconnect the power connector to the motor and carefully remove the motor cover. I say carefully because you don't want to pull out the motor armature. After the cover is off, reach down and lift up on the window, this takes pressure off the motor and regulator. As you are lifting up on the window, turn the motor armature clockwise. I ASSUME that if the armature spins freely, its a pretty good indication that the regulator is OK.

OK, now I have my window up (let it snow...). I checked to see if there was power to the window, which there is for both up and down, so I think its the motor.

Any tips on replacing the motor? It looks like the motor is riveted in, I assume that if this is true, I can drill out the rivets and bolt in a new motor.

Thanks!

Rather than opening old threads, start a new one specific to your problem or question. It will be easier to get the attention it deserves that way, and old threads can quietly fade away.
