When my hubs are locked and the shifter is in 2 wd my front end makes a grinding noise when turning. I can also feel it, it is kind of a jerking motion like when you are turning in 4wd on dry pavement. The truck has 68K on it.

yea my 94 is doing that too, i notice it more on my driver front tire. i havent tried it with it in 2wd, but i know in 4wd when i turn it grinds... hope its nothing serious, i just bought the truck. does anybody have any ideas on what it could be??? it kinda makes me worry a little bit

If you put a truck in 4WD and try to steer hard on dry pavement, then you are gonna feel a "binding" sensation and maybe hear some noise since 4WD is designed to work on wet or slippery areas.

If the binding is really extreme, or the noise is really loud, then a U-joint may be going bad in the front axle.

yup sure enough, checked the u-joint and its missing one of its caps...kinda wierd, never seen that happen before. but i hope thats my only problem
