88 Ranger Gauges Cluster Removalsleiter 08-09-2006, 08:41 AM I have a 1988 Ranger and I'm trying to remove the gauges cluster. I can get to the gauges and remove all the screws just fine. I run into a problem when I need to remove the speedometer cable. Does anyone know how to remove this from the back of the gauge cluster??? If anyone knows, please share! Thanks for your help. sleiter 08-10-2006, 09:52 AM If anyone else is wondering how to remove the gauge cluster I figured it out and it's very simple. All you have to do is remove the dash that covers the gauges(a total of 8 screws, 4 on the top and 4 on the bottom behind the trim). Next, unscrew the 4 screws that hold the gauge cluster into the dash, one screw at each corner. To remover the speedometer you better be flexible or have developed another joint on your arm. There are two small bolts that hold the speedometer cable to the speedometer, one on top and one on the bottom. Remover those and the cable comes right off. Pull out the gauge cluster and disconnect any wiring. This is very easy once you are able to locate the two bolts holding the speedometer cable. I feel kinda dumb for not finding these first and needing help. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
