HI
I have a 1995 Chrysler New Yorker and it won't start. It kept dying like it was out of gas and finally it died! It has a new EGR valve and a new fuel pump. It is not getting electricity to the relays. What else could cause this? :frown:
Thanks
kathy

Open the gas cap, have someone turn the key on but don't try and start it. You should hear the slight whine of the fuel pump for a couple seconds and then it will shut off. If you don't then their is something wrong with a relay or the new pump.

Change the fuel filter. They can become plugged over time and starve the engine.

If all else fails, ensure their is fuel in the tank. Pick up a couple gallons in a gas can and put it in. Try the engine again. I had a few vehicles where the gas gauge said I had gas but I ran out at 1/4 tank all the time.

What size engine do you have? You should get the check engine codes from it also.

Follow this link http://www.troublecodes.net/chrysler/

You should be able to get the codes at home with the light on the dash.

Some 95's need an OBD2 scan tool to get them. Some auto parts places will rent them or even scan for free. Check and see.

It has a 3.5. The check engine light won't come on for me to get a code. I put a new crank sensor in it today and it tried to crank once and that was the end of that. I am lost as to what it could be.

You either have a dead battery or your motor is hydrolocked. That means the engine has a antifreeze leak in to your pistons, and the pistons can not compress liquid, only vapourized gas and air. Your intake gasket is leaking antifreeze into your pistons. Remove all the spark plugs and then crank the engine. If It then cranks away than it may be the problem. The intake gasket can be replaced at home with not too much problem if you are mecanically inclined. If not it would be a $700.00 repair at the shop. I would say $700.00 would be worth it for a 95 New Yorker.

Talk to some freinds and get them to help. Make sure someone has a tork wrench to tighten the bolts to specs( 20.00)

The crank sensor is not easy to do but would help.

You have a lot of problems with your vehicle like I do. Hang in their. Shit goes away.

What would cause the fuel pump relay from kicking in besides being bad? Is there a way of checking it without buying one. Are the relays interchangeable? They all have the same numbers on them. We squirted ether into the car and it fired, so it is getting fire but not fuel. It has new fuel pump, EGR, and crank sensor. What is an ASD relay and where is it locate?
Thanks
Kathy
