Can anybody tell me the recommended fuel pressure for a 2000 Explorer with a SOHC 4.0L engine? My mileage has steadily decreased, so I checked it and saw roughly 65psi at idle. This is considerably higher (almost double) that of my 1999 Windstar with the 3.8L.

Guess it depends on which return system you have. Seems 65 psi is normal.

For Mechanical Returnless Fuel System with fuel pressure greater that 448 kPa (65 psi). REPLACE fuel pressure regulator in fuel tank.

For Electronic Returnless Fuel Systems with fuel pressure greater than 448 kPa (65 psi). RERUN Quick Test. Other DTC's should be present if fuel pressure is out of range..
