Aftermarket Stereo

Hi,

We have a 99 Venture. We want to install an aftermarket stereo in where the standard factory installed cassette deck is. I looked at it briefly and it seems to be a 1.5 DIN height opening. I did a search under stereo and it seems like the bezel is easy enough to remove. Has anyone replaced theirs? Does a standard Din sized stereo fit? I know there will be extra space.

Thanks.

Hmm

if you buy a universal installition kit for the van, it should all for multilple din sizes...?

Yes that is true.

I am trying to determine if the opening is wide enough. IE standard DIN width (it is easier to make the opening smaller but much harder to make larger.)

A follow up question:

Has anyone replaced their factory speakers? If so are they a standard size? I think the fronts may be 5 1/4" and I assume the holes will line up.

Thanks.

I'd suggest that you check crutchfield.com for speaker sizes....Glen

:iagree: I was going to post about Crutchfield, but I see someone beat me to it:grinyes: I've purchased car audio items, (stereos, speakers, etc.,) from them for almost 20 years and have had good luck. They have a lot of info on their website, and their customer service is great too.

Thanks. I will try Crutchfield. I just thought that if someone had replaced their speakers that they would know..........

Hmmm
I just checked Crutchfield, and it listed both 5-1/4" AND 6-1/2" as being correct for the front.

So... which is it?

The 6 1/2" is listed mainly as it is the largest speaker that will fit in the factory location. There are other sizes that will fit but the largest that will fit is the 6 1/2" size.
