or the ign module?

It does no good to throw parts at it.
It needs proper testing.
That is why I posted the all data DIY link.
It will led you threw the proper test.
Good luck MT.

Is this for a Buick Century or your Lumina?

The special tool is a harmonic balancer puller with the proper threaded and size bolts.

Ok, since you have a '88 with 2.8L you won't have to worry about the puller since the crank sensor is not located at the front of the crankshaft behind the harmonic balancer pulley like later models. The crank sensor is located at the backside of the engine block, center, under the exhaust manifold. See link below:

You need to find a good repair shop and get some proper testing done.
Good Luck

with a 10mm deep well socket on a 1/4 drive ratchet, you should be able to fit your hand over the back of the transmission, or between the differential housing and the block and still have adequate room to swing the tool.

Once the bolt is removed, take care to twist back and forth on the sensor and pull out GENTLY as I've had issues with the o-ring seal being frozen in the bore and sensor tops like to break off. This makes for an un-fun time of un-fun effort.

simple by try out... i have somebody he have an beretta engine, and its the same, so i have try to change the ignition coil and it was working, cos there was power on the plugs by the ignition coil, and then i know that something wrong with the module or the coil...

I was going to sugest you check the mass air flow sensor. I had one go out under warranty on my 87. Car would die when accelerating onto freeway. Sometimes it would die at stop light. Usually started and ran for awhile. Was tellng friend, he tapped the same part on his 88 Cutlass Cierra and it died immediately.

After reading rest of your thread, glad to hear your car is running.
