My 89 Buick 3.3L engine has started to stall. I just fixed the car for the no start problem. After I fixed the no start problem, I tried to drive the car and it just stalled on me when I took off. The car has new timing chain, spark plugs, wires, fuel pump, fuel filter, and a maf sensor from the junk yard. The car stalls when I first take off. It will first sputter then stall when I press the gas for take off. Please I need help with this car.

I have a 90 century with the 3.3L and this problem just started 2 weeks ago. I haven't dug into this problem, as I'm still doing some research on it. But see if this is the same problem as you... On start up after the engine has been warmed up, I tap the gas pedal while in PARK and I notice the engine hesitates, shutters, and then stalls. Next time I start the car, I put the gas pedal to the floor only to have the engine shutter and stalls once again. On the thrid or fouth try I hit the gas a little bit to see what the engine is doing and like MAGIC it revs like normal and everything is fine and I drive away.

Random, or off-idle stalling is very hard to diagnose in a forum such as this, but there are 3 main causes for off idle stalling issues. I would suggest starting with these.

1. Loss of spark due to a bad ICM (ignition control module), CMPS (CaM Position Sensor), or CKPS (CranK Position Sensor). The CMPS and CKPS will normally trip a check engine light and store a code. The ICM can be tested for free at Auto-Zone or Advance.
2. low fuel pressure due to bad pump, clogged fuel filter or bad Fuel pressure regulator. A fuel pressure guage hooked up at the fuel rail schrader valve will be needed for this.
3. A bad computer controlled sensor (MAF, TPS) that controls injector pulse/on-time or a bad ECM itself if no codes are stored and everything else checks out.
