How do I replace the fan on my JGC 98?!matuka 08-04-2006, 12:25 PM I finally realized why my JGC's engine has been overheating lately. I thought the radiator needed flushing; so I did. Then I thought it was the thermostat; I replaced it three days ago. Today, on my way to work, I heard some "background" noise; it sounded like the water pump was trying to circulate something as thick as molasses. And before I could get to my job to check it out, I smelled something burning. Like an electrical fire. Then I saw smoke coming from under the hood. I thought, Uh-oh, not good. I pulled over, popped the hood, and saw the motor on my JGC's electric fan motor just spewing acrid white smoke. I waited for the smoke to disappear, turned the engine back on and watched as my JGC's fan remain still. The motor was fried all right. So, taking it to a dealer or the repair shop is out of the question since I don't have that kind of money. I am planning to replace the motor (and the fan?) by myself. BUT I NEED HELP!!! How do I do it? It looks simple enough. Do I have to remove the whole radiator first? How much is the motor? Do I need to get new blades, too? Please help!
