Wipers not retracting

The wipers work fine. The issue is that when I shut them off, they don’t park – they move to a position on the windshield that is straight up and down.

I took off the plastic and see the motor rods/cams working. Motors fine, then when it’s supposed to park the wiper the motor reverses itself. Issue is that it then parks the wipers in the complete upright position not down in the hood.

Any suggestions? I figure it’s got to be something with the rods/cams themselves but not sure how they are supposed to work.

Thanks

I am having the same problem. Have you received a solution?
Thanks

There is a small cam that is supposed to catch and cause the wipers to pull down under the hood when you turn them off. The cam doesn't catch so the wipers park straight up. My van is doing that, I tried cleaning the "clutch" but it continues so apparently the spring that activates the cam is shot. The replacement clutch cost about $80 at a Chevy dealer. When I went to my dealer he know exactly what I needed as soon a I told him what they were doing so apparently it happens fairly often. I priced it, but have yet to replace mine.

I had the same problem with my 99, plus the wipers would not work on high only low. Mine turned out to be the wiper module. Even wipers need a computer nowadays. I bought a new one from the dealer and installed in about 1 hour. Good Luck

I failed to mention that my van is a 2001. There may be differences between the 98's and 01's.

Hi, I was having the same problem last week. I did a search and someone recommended spraying white lithium grease on the cams. So far so good. I have a 99 Montana. Good luck.

That's what I'm calling the clutch, not sure what it's proper name is, LOL. How much did the part run you?

my grd prix did the same thing fix it by bending the tab under the cam so it tripped the park cycle on the cam
