I always use the radio in my 1996 jeep cherokee, like always, so it figures that it would die on me. the other day the radio just stopped recieving signal and all i got was fuzz. I decided to screw the factory radio and upgrade to a new modern radio. I need some help with the removal of my old radio and replacement of a new one ,if anyone can give me some advice id love it.

On that static, check the antenna first.
To remove radio--
Take the plastic cover off of the center and there are screws holding it in. If yours has knobs, take those off and remove the nuts. Mine is a 97 with CD and tape but I had an 84XJ previously. Buy a harness adapter for new radio at Best Buy if the radio is chrysler. On the earlier model I just cut and spliced the wires. Solder and heat shrink works best.
