97 Buick Regal Front Clip Removal Helpdocbubala 07-27-2006, 12:27 AM Hey Everyone, My parents have a 97 Buick Regal with a 3.8 Liter and the body is absolutely totaled, but the engine only has 38,000 miles and is in great condition, so we need to remove the front clip or engine and trany, so if anyone knows which bolts to remove and what to take off so we don't ruin anything would be greatly appreciated. BNaylor 07-28-2006, 10:03 PM If you just want to get the engine and tranny out I do not see why you want to remove the complete front clip. Elevate the car enough, support with jacks, then just get an engine hoist to hold the engine from above, loosen the subframe bolts (total 4) and drop the engine and tranny down complete. Before that I would drain coolant, disconnect radiator/heater hoses and remove the cooling fans and radiator. Undo all vacuum lines, any wiring harnesses, throttle cable, shift cable, exhaust plumbing at downpipe, and anything else. Remove wheels and loosen struts at the steering knuckle mount. The control arm and hub/axle shaft can be left on and removed later to include tie rods and the rack and pinion. Even if you remove the front bumper cover, etc, the radiator has to come out via the engine compartment. Welcome to AF. docbubala 07-29-2006, 02:36 PM Thank you for the info. It is greatly appreciated. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
