Hi this may seem like a newbie question and it probably is but my left rear brake caliper seems to hang and the pads are rubbing on the rotors which makes a barely noticeable noise in the rear but it still bothers me. I jacked up the rear end a little to try and spin the tire to see if it was moving freely and the right side is much better than the left with the problem. Should I just take the wheel off and try and clean up the caliper? Thanks any help would much be appreciated.

Hi

I had this problem on my Nissan Primera P11-144 2000 model. The slide pins in the caliper can get rusted. If you can get the caliper off and free the slide pins and re-grease with copper grease, all should be OK other than that a re-furbished Caliper would do the job. I noticed the same on my rear left. My fuel consumption rose and apart from the noise the brake disc (rotor) was warm in the centre after driving a few miles. Once I decided to tackle the job I noticed that the outer pad was worn almost to the metal, but the inner one was only quarter used. So be prepared to replace pads as well.

Thanks, I was beginning to lose faith in this board so I went over to g20.net. They are very helpful. But thanks again for your help.
