Car unlocked on its own

I have a 2000 Sportage. I always lock my car up each night. Started 4 days ago, I noticed the car doors became unlocked by themselves each morning. Normally, I just lock all 4 doors by pushing the driver's side door lock when I exit the vehicle. However, since I am now suspecting potential theft or vandalism, last night I locked the doors by using the key so the theft alarm could be set. Well, in the middle of the night, the alarm went off. Of course, I couldn't see anyone when I went out to shut off the alarm (horn & lights). Then I stayed up and watched the car, about 1 hr later, the horn and lights went off again, and this time I know for sure nobody had touched the car because I never took my eyes off the car the entire time I was watching it.

Could the doors become unlocked (consequently, the theft alarm mechanism was tripped) by some sort of electrical malfunctions?

Thanks in advance for any hint.

Yes, THis has been reported before. THIS LINK (www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB70&Number=428298) tells of similar condition, though does not come with a definite unique solution, but it might help anyway.

Thank you very much for the link. It sounds pretty much like what I'm encountering. I banged around the driver side door panel this morning, and it hasn't happenned again. I feel like there's a short inside the door panel.
