My Probe Steering Wheel Locked up...jncoboy267 07-22-2006, 01:51 AM Well my car has been sitting for about a period of 4 months and the other day I took the time to buy me a new exhaust and get it back on the road.. Checked all my fluids and took it out for a day.. By the end of the night I had gotten back into the neighborhood and went to make a u-turn.. I guess u could say I took the turn too sharp... Not fast, just basically locking the wheel turning.. :banghead: When I went to straighten it out the steering wheel felt as if someone was pulling my car the other way and it was literally me having to force it to turn... Not only that but when I let the steering go after the turn the car drifted to the right... Fuck... Got in my driveway and noticed that it was overheated.. and it started sputtering out and I just turned it off.. Wat a bad night for my probe (1993 Gt front wheel drive).. What the hell is going on guys.. Please tell me cause the internet is bullshit when it comes to find information, I can't find my answers anywhere... octagon 07-24-2006, 09:14 AM It sounds to me like you may have killed the power steering pump. I have read that if you have the wheel turned to full lock for more than 5 seconds you can damage it. My 95 has a habit of loosing it's power steering if I accelerate to hard with the air conditioning on. Can't figure out why but when the pump quits it is incredably hard to turn the car. Check to make sure there is enough power steering fluid in the resovour as well. If that doesn't make any difference it looks like a trip to the scrapyard might be in order. Thanks for the help, it's much appreciated. troy2481 07-30-2006, 05:04 AM Hi this same thing happened to me:banghead: . Check on the passenger side of the engine and look for the cap that says power steering fluid and then look right on that part to see if one of the hoses broke loose :uhoh: and let all of your fluid out :disappoin (which would make some steam or smoke). If so just put the hose back on and retighten the clamp with a screw driver. :icon16: Sorry I like the :flipa: :gives: :useless: :yugosmili :15millionsign: for my car it's priceless vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
