Advice On a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Orvis Limited 4 X 4 model?spielightdude 07-22-2006, 12:25 AM Hi everyone, I am looking at a 1995 JGC Orvis Limited model. It has the 4.0 straight 6 in it and I have family that has a cherokee sport with that engine and she still runs strong at 235,000 miles. The GC I am looking at has 209,000 miles on it and is the 4 speed automatic. He is only asking 2000 for it due to he is military and can not take it with him. High Milage aside would this be a good buy for the money I mean the thing is loaded with options and I have heard nothing but good things about the 4.0 engine. It would need to be a reliable daily driver but we have always been good at keeping up the maint. on our cars. Any advice would be great as he needs to sell it by the end of the month. He states it has the all wheel drive and the 2" trailer package still starts right up now 1 thing I was curious about is he says it has a dimming rear view mirror. Is that the type that dimmes for you or is it just another way of saying the day/night mirror that you have to flip? Thanks again any info ASAP is apreshiated! Joe BeZerK2112 07-22-2006, 12:44 AM I cant say enough good things about the Stright 6. I've seen thoes with 280000+ miles on them and loved mine when I had my Jeep. Although I would be careful if you are planning on using it as a daily driver until you really know what you've got and you know you can trust it. But for a loaded 95 thats a great price. Even if you had to replace the engine latter on down the road you would still have value in the Jeep. I would do it! But remember the engine isn't the only thing you should worry about when it comes high milage. You should also look at the struts, springs, diffs, and make sure maintnence has been taken care of on it. The dimming rear view is light activated and you can turn it off or on at your lieasure. jeeperphil 07-22-2006, 06:06 PM see if he knows when the viscous coupler in the transfer case was last changed. You said it has all wheel drive. Thats another way of saying quadra trac. They are usually only good for about 80 to 125 thousand miles. If its never been changed then it was a really good one and ready to go! If its not a quadra trac, then not to worry. Either way its a good buy. I'd do it. I have a 95 limited 5.2, 126,000.
