there is a ratteling noise coming from the right side of my 1991 thunderbird at first i thought it might be a bad strut but i took the weel off and looked at it and it looks like there is a few bad bushings and mainly the ball joint on the upper control arm i was just wondering if i could just replace the ball joint or would i have to buy a whole new control arm and how much would that cost?

I'd just replace both of the complete upper control arm assemblies. there have been a couple of horror stories in these forums about them going out/breaking that I really don't think you want to happen to you. I replaced mine about 8 months ago, but with everything that I've been doing to my car this past year - I really don't remember the price. Good luck, tho.

The upper ball joint and control arm is one piece. You have to replace the entire arm in order to replace the ball joint.
