How to get air out of steering fluid?broncoman96 07-17-2006, 12:39 PM Just changed rack on my 1996 explorer, can't seem to get all the air out of the fluid, anyone have any ideas? virgamanda 07-17-2006, 12:51 PM You have to slowly turn the steering wheel left to right several times. Do not however turn steering wheel all the way to lock. Keep eye on fluid and fill as necessary. way2old 07-17-2006, 01:49 PM Also disable vehicle so it will not start. With front wheels off the round, turn wheels left and right while cranking engine. Turn them 3 or 4 times then go to right lock and stop cranking engine. Lock steering wheel and let sit for a few minutes until the fluid stops bubbling. Do same procedure for left lock. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
