If someone quoted me $1800.00 for a compressor job, I would say :wtf: & give them the double :flipa:

For less than $1800.00, I could buy my own tickets & fly out there from Atlanta with new parts, install them, (3 hr job), spend a few days & nights relaxing at the Hilton, then fly back to Atlanta!

I know how hot it gets out there; I use to spend a lot of time in Vegas and south, in Bullhead City, AZ. (Even hotter)!:angryfire I would imagine AC shops in that environment, could just name a price and get the job, when people get desperate. It may be hard to find anyone in that area willing to do it for a reasonable price.

In my area, the price to install a compressor, accumulator and orifice tube would run between $600.-$1000 drive out and that includes a new compressor, not a rebuilt! Best advice is to shop around, make fifty phone calls if necessary and find a reputable AC shop that will do the job for half of what Firestone wants. :iceslolan

I think, Firestone needs to be reported for "price gouging"!:evillol:
