what is my cars problem ugh... 666_speed 07-15-2006, 05:38 PM
I have a 1999 Cavalier. I need to find out two things, and im pretty sure their linked. During the winter when i would start the car, it would put out so much white smoke that i couldnt even see my driveway anymore. And the day before yesterday I changed out my Plugs and Plug wires because I could smell gas which means its not burning and im getting HORRIBLE gas mileage. When changing the plugs as soon as the socket hit the valve cover it had oil on it, and i cleaned out about a paper towel's worth of oil from each whole around the plugs. WHAT IS GOIN ON? Thanks. BTW this is 666speed's brother not himself. pyro4329 07-17-2006, 04:58 PM Piston rings are shot? I know it happens on older Hondas, the exact same way you explained it. capriceowns 07-17-2006, 05:06 PM leaky valve cover/gasket? Lances133 07-17-2006, 05:12 PM BTW this is 666speed's brother not himself. ...I think it really is 666_speed...he just doesn't wanna ruin his big tough camaro image by posting on a cavalier forum. :evillol: Young Chuck D 07-17-2006, 05:41 PM ...I think it really is 666_speed...he just doesn't wanna ruin his big tough camaro image by posting on a cavalier forum. :evillol: lets just assume its his brother and help him out. Lances133 07-17-2006, 05:42 PM lets just assume i was kidding....bcuz i was. 666_speed 07-17-2006, 10:41 PM It's actually 6 now, he hot rods that car every time he drives. He blew mom's Bonneville up twice in 3 months. It has been suggested to him on more than one occasion rings. Thanks again guys. BTW, my Camaro is a piece of shit, my bike is fast! :iceslolan Cavalier2000 07-18-2006, 01:38 PM ...try the valve cover gasket first and then work from there. how many miles does it have on it babalon1 07-19-2006, 10:43 AM sounds like a cracked head gasket same thing happend to me cost me lotsa money Young Chuck D 07-19-2006, 01:12 PM yea man head gasket in car language is the equivalent to liver cancer.. Cavalier2000 07-19-2006, 01:22 PM naw maybe breast cancer Cap0ni 07-19-2006, 11:05 PM sounds like a cracked head gasket same thing happend to me cost me lotsa money i concur, i seriously doubt a valve cover gasket will fix the problem, sounds like your head gasket is shot and running it as is will ruin your engine faster if its not already in trouble. white smoke is surefire sign that your already burning coolant, so change it or have it changed if its worth it to you. otherwise drive it till it seizes and buy a new car. 666_speed 07-20-2006, 02:50 PM He's changed a head gasket before when he got the car. It has 104k miles on it and it has earned them. The car I believe was rolled over before he bought it. I know it was totaled. Thanks guys.
