I really need more power and acceleration and there arent many parts that i can find that will fit a stock olds. so is it possible to go to a 305 or even a 350 in the car with out haveing to change the mounts and such?

If i did change toa 350 that would mean i would have to get a new transmission, rearend and such would it not?

I would reccomend a 305, they are a nice little engine, and extremely reliable. If you are really looking for power(we all need more of that) you should go with the 350, i am not sure about changing your motor mounts but you would need a new transmission ect. It would be well worth investing the time and money. A 231 would make an ideal Chevette engine but it makes a pretty "Gutless" Cutlass:bandit:

You only have to change the transmission and mount with a Chevy engine. My cutlass had a stock 307 (5.0 Liter) and I also wanted more power. I found a '76 Olds Delta 88 with an Olds 350. I rebuilt that and put it in my car and it bolted up perfect to the transmission and motor mounts. (with a big increase in power and a huge decrease in gas mileage)

Yes you have to get a transmission that has the Chevy bolt battern or the TH2004R transmission that has a dual pattern and will fit both. I have an 83 Grand Prix with the 231 and an 87 Cutlass with a 305, the 305 has way more power and gets better gas mileage than the 6 cylinder. btw I think you also have to change the fuel lines over, they are on opposite sides for buick and Chevy.
