YesChris 08-10-2002, 07:46 PM If you read the latest C&D, you know about this car. It has a 286hp turbocharged I4 from VW. It is made in Eastern Europe, I believe. It is made of aluminum, has 4 instruments, and is super light. This, to me, is the ultimate car. It weighs less than an Elise, and has more than twice the power. I really want one. Its about 50K, and only 20 or so a year will be built. I will try to get more later/fix my errors. Deakins 08-10-2002, 09:22 PM I want one too. The car is made in Germany; it weighs 585kg, built using Aluminium Space Frame technology [Audi A8/A2]. The "famous" VAG 1.8t engine, now on steroids, puts out 286 hp and 330 nm, no wonder the car goes from 0-100 in 4.1 seconds and 0-160 in 11.8. As for the instruments, I counted 7 :D Deakins 08-10-2002, 09:26 PM Forgot the pictures... http://www.vwvortex.com/resources/gallery/specialty_cars/yes/images/large/01.jpg http://www.vwvortex.com/resources/gallery/specialty_cars/yes/images/large/03.jpg http://www.vwvortex.com/resources/gallery/specialty_cars/yes/images/large/02.jpg http://www.vwvortex.com/resources/gallery/specialty_cars/yes/images/large/05.jpg Chris 08-15-2002, 09:42 PM Ah, but there are 4 in front of you. Anyway, the point stands: If you don't need it, get it outta there! They are also planning an American version. So for those of us who lusted after a Tommykaira ZZ, we may be able to buy one on steriods:D jsb88 11-26-2002, 11:04 AM looks interesting.... it is a bit sort of square... :( Menu dei Motori 11-26-2002, 11:30 AM omg thatīs a ... car name of the car? Chris 11-26-2002, 01:00 PM The name is simply YES. It looks square because it is so small. Making it 'curvy' would require more metal and more mass. IT is hard to make small cars pretty. There are exceptions, or course, such as the Elise. Menu dei Motori 11-26-2002, 02:12 PM what car manufacturer? Chris 11-26-2002, 02:59 PM The car was designed by engineering students, who have since decided to try and make/sell a select few of them. So, as far as I know, the manufacturer is YES. I will search for contact information tonight, if I have time. Chris 11-26-2002, 03:06 PM At google (http://www.google.com) I typed in YES 286hp I got this; Im not sure if its the builder or not (I am going off to work in -5minutes): http://www.vwvortex.com/features/04_02/04_22/index.shtml PS: My first post was the second result on google:D jsb88 11-27-2002, 07:51 AM I think you can buy them if you send an e-mail to Funke & Will! Chris 11-27-2002, 01:47 PM http://www.yes-clubsport.de/ Is the home site. They have an english link on the opening page, to. Seems its undergoing american federalization. Woohoo. Seems like they are actually succeeding. A point to ponder; this car, at perhaps $50000, is faster than the Lamborghini Diablo, Ferrari 550, Previous-gen 911 Turbo, etc. jsb88 11-28-2002, 05:40 AM lucky you. maybe they will debut at an American car show you go to... if they do, then pictures please. :) Menu dei Motori 11-28-2002, 08:30 AM whell.. it has no special style! not agressive! jsb88 11-28-2002, 09:19 AM I think it looks like an Audi TT with a mini chassis, but if they like it... Chris 11-28-2002, 10:45 AM Well, I think its minimilism is gorgeous, just like bikini's. The less, the better:D Also, the car is incredibly small. Yesterday, I was watching the montery historic races, and there was a Ferrari 275 racing some C2 corvettes. It was like watching a fleetwood race a mini; the Ferrari is so small. The minute size cannot be appreciated in pictures; you need to see the car. And as stated earlier, it is almost impossible to 'style' a car when it is so small. Granted, the Ferrari is better looking, but this one is still spectacular. Menu dei Motori 11-28-2002, 12:38 PM a little beetle... and the big brother is the bugatti veyron :D jsb88 11-30-2002, 10:31 AM :D prove it! lets get DNA tests! crayzayjay 12-01-2002, 07:26 AM Those kids have undoubtedly done a good job... but they really could have done a better job of naming the car. YES? come on! put a little more thought into it! Menu dei Motori 12-01-2002, 08:03 AM YES is probably a bash crayzayjay 12-01-2002, 08:53 AM a bash? Menu dei Motori 12-01-2002, 08:57 AM i had to look in lexicon.. maybe this is the right: abbreviation crayzayjay 12-01-2002, 09:03 AM ahh... ok.. i getcha... "Y.E.S." is indeed an abbreviation, but i still think they could have thought of a better one! Menu dei Motori 12-01-2002, 09:05 AM wasnīt "bash" correct? Chris 12-01-2002, 09:16 AM nope, actually, its an "acronym".;) Menu dei Motori 12-01-2002, 09:19 AM Originally posted by Chris nope, actually, its an "acronym".;) ok thanks! iīll try to add that in my brain :D crayzayjay 12-01-2002, 09:27 AM Chris is indeed correct, its acronym abbreviation is just making a word shorter i dont think "bash" has anything to do with this kind of word stuff :D Menu dei Motori 12-01-2002, 09:30 AM ok thanks! iīll go work now for 3 hours! cu later crazy in about 4 hours! jsb88 12-03-2002, 10:06 AM Tut Tut when did you learn English! Menu dei Motori 12-03-2002, 10:15 AM me? at school i had english till 11th class... now im 13. flo_F1 12-03-2002, 10:57 AM it is a great car! i saw it in real and its qutie short and not too high! i like such cars. if the car is handled as well as the figures say, it will beat a ferrari on a country road! in a german school you don't learn english, caused by falling asleep! you read and interpret a text in every lesson! it is very boring! <-- just my opinion Menu dei Motori 12-03-2002, 11:52 AM Originally posted by flo_F1 in a german school you don't learn english, caused by falling asleep! you read and interpret a text in every lesson! it is very boring! <-- just my opinion thatīs the BIIIIIIIGGGGGGG problem at german schools... especially in the languages... everything gets analysed and texts must be interpreted... itīs really horrible. nearly never we talk and discuss any topics... well i should say talked. falling asleep is nothing special in a lesson like that... :( :o crayzayjay 12-03-2002, 02:17 PM Originally posted by Menu dei Motori me? at school i had english till 11th class... now im 13. wow, youre driving a BMW at the age of 13! I'm impressed :p Menu dei Motori 12-04-2002, 08:57 AM no 13th class :D there was a point after 13 :p crayzayjay 12-04-2002, 03:23 PM I was only messin with ya :D Menu dei Motori 12-05-2002, 01:57 AM youīre really crazy :D jsb88 12-05-2002, 09:32 AM We are all crazy, we can take topics completly off course. crayzayjay 12-05-2002, 03:35 PM True, we have taken some threads completely off-course, but only when no one else is posting anything... whats the point of coming on a forum if you dont wanna post? :D Menu dei Motori 12-06-2002, 07:05 AM yea too many people only read and donīt post jsb88 12-06-2002, 07:40 AM everyone is not bold enough to confront us :D Menu dei Motori 12-06-2002, 08:24 AM hmmmm :silly2: :silly2: maybe they donīt have a keyboard :alien: jsb88 12-07-2002, 09:52 AM yes probably. :D crayzayjay 12-07-2002, 10:30 PM Its pretty bad though.. the Audi forum was pretty dead the other day until i went in and told them what i think of the Audi TT, which incidentally is not much! :D you have to provoke to get a reaction ;) Menu dei Motori 12-08-2002, 05:41 AM the tt looks like an ugly beetle and the beetle is already horrible! jsb88 12-08-2002, 06:53 AM The beetle was based on a pretty rubbish car anyway, but the TT looks like a carmen gear! Menu dei Motori 12-08-2002, 07:33 AM on which car was the beetle based? Cbass 12-08-2002, 08:25 AM The TT and Beetle are both based on the VW/Audi A platform, as are the Golf, and the Jetta, and the A3... With AWD and factory upgrades available(to TT spec), they're not that bad at all. In fact, a 4motion(vw's name for quattro) Golf is downright sporty, especially when you get your dealer to upgrade everything to TT specs. Menu dei Motori 12-08-2002, 08:38 AM yea maybe th tt is a good car but i still donīt like it :D Cbass 12-08-2002, 08:46 AM It may be a good car, but it's far too womanly for me to drive... You can tell, because Porsche doesn't use the platform ;) Chris 12-11-2002, 05:11 PM I dont like the TT, actually; it has too little power and handling capability for the money. It is just too much money for too little, IMO. Menu dei Motori 12-12-2002, 08:06 AM i think tereīll be a new motor for the tt with 250 ps Cbass 12-12-2002, 09:27 AM Yes, I heard the TT was going to be getting the V6 from the S4, and the S4 is getting the 4.2 V8 from the S8... Chris 12-13-2002, 10:45 PM Throwing power at an inadequate chassis causes more problems than it fixes, IMO. Menu dei Motori 12-14-2002, 04:48 AM yea and we all know what the TT has ad for handling problems at the beginning and still has! jsb88 01-07-2003, 03:33 PM Is it still a good car though? or is it an outcast of AF? Chris 01-11-2003, 09:50 AM Umm, start a poll asking that; if you do, I will vote for outcast, i dont like it at all. Deakins 01-11-2003, 10:44 AM Originally posted by Cbass Yes, I heard the TT was going to be getting the V6 from the S4, and the S4 is getting the 4.2 V8 from the S8... The V6 in the TT is the 3.2L V(R)6 from the Golf R32, Touareg and Phaeton. crayzayjay 01-12-2003, 12:51 PM Originally posted by Cbass Yes, I heard the TT was going to be getting the V6 from the S4, and the S4 is getting the 4.2 V8 from the S8... The S4 has already got the 4.2, but from what ive read, despite the power the S4 stil has a serious problem regarding a deficit of feel and involvement. shame.. :( Chris 01-12-2003, 05:44 PM All the power in the world is useless on the street; u need to feel whats going on to get an appreciation (and fun) out of going fast. crayzayjay 01-13-2003, 09:36 AM Originally posted by Chris All the power in the world is useless on the street; u need to feel whats going on to get an appreciation (and fun) out of going fast. Spoken like a true enthusiast. Thats why Audi's short-sightedness with this power war will not end well for them. The M5 and M3 are superior to the (R)S6 and S4 respectively and a new M5 is on the way. Manufacturers are getting silly with this "mine is more powerful than yours" thing. Its just stupid  vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
