Buying a 2001 Yukon SLE 5.3 L 56K Mileskzam02 07-10-2006, 01:02 AM Hi, firstly I want to thank all the posters on this forum. I have been going thru the threads and there is a lot of helpful and valuable information in this forum. Now on to a request to you all. I am looking to buy a 2001 Yukon 5.3 l SLE with 56K miles. It has cloth interior with the 3rd seat option. I love the Yukons and I really want to buy this, but wanted some advise as to the pricing and reliability and what I should for before Paying the seller. This Yukon is also equipped with Propane tanks and Mechanic said that it is going into some sort of a pump under the hood and he thinks If I put Propane it should work. Have any of you folks seen a Yukon with propane system ? The seller is asking $15K and the KBB for Private Party is around $!6.5K Please advise if this is a good deal or not and also the propane part have any of you used it and if you did what does it entail and the mileage that i can get and is it really cost effective? Thank you so much, appreciate all the help I can get. K east302 07-13-2006, 12:23 PM Did you buy the Yukon? $14-15k seems like a good price, but I'd be wary of the propane tank system. I guess it's aftermarket but you never know if it was put together right...if something goes wrong with it can it be fixed by any normal mechanic or would it cost so much to repair that it would offset any increase in fuel economy? I'd figure around 15-16mpg on average with the 5.3L on gasoline. Truthfully, I'd look for something else that hasn't been modified to such an extent. Why are they selling it? kzam02 07-13-2006, 01:47 PM Thank you for the reply. Yes I did Buy it and I got him down to $14K. I checked with my mechanic and he recommended taking the propane system out. The tanks are installed where the spare tire should be and I think it looks ugly with the tanks sticking out from under the back bumper. I am going to take it out and just use it with regular gas. I did some research on the propane and the price per gallon / mile cmes out to be the same as regular unleaded gas anyways, hence no benefit at this time for me. I'll leave the other components in there but take out the tanks and cap the hoses so that in the future if I need to all I have to do is insatll the tanks back on and I am in business. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
