99 Taurus front springBostonKev 07-09-2006, 10:06 PM Hi all, I just bought a 99 police Taurus with a broken front spring. Is a junkyard the best place to get a replacement and is this a big job? Thank you KimMG 07-10-2006, 02:10 AM I don't know if a junk yard is the best source since you don't know what kind of stress the part has been subjected to. Take a look at the following link and see if it is a job you want to tackle. http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/1b/02/9b/0900823d801b029b.jsp road_rascal 07-10-2006, 09:33 AM I don't know how much money you want to put into the car but Monroe has a product called a Quick Strut that has the strut and spring as a package: http://www.monroe.com/products/mp_detail.asp?cat=0&detail=Quick+Strut BostonKev 07-10-2006, 10:47 AM excellent info. Thank you TaurusKing 07-10-2006, 06:03 PM You might be able to have them replaced for free, there was a recall on front springs for 99's at least,, what the dealer did was inspect them, if they were good, coiled shields were installed on them to prevent the front tires from being cut if the spring happened to break, not ideal at highway speed,,, front springs have been a sore spot for a long time BostonKev 07-10-2006, 06:42 PM it's definitely broken all right but I never expect anything for free with Ford. I'll call them. Thanks a lot for the heads up. Kevin Millermagic 07-11-2006, 09:41 PM If Ford won't do anything up front, afterwards send them the receipt for the springs. I have heard of them reembursing people for it. BostonKev 07-13-2006, 03:02 PM Unbelievable. Both springs done at no charge from the dealer. I really appreciate the help. Thank you road_rascal 07-14-2006, 02:25 PM I'm really shocked that Ford replaced parts on a (I'm assuming) a used vehicle for free. Doing a recall, of course, but replace parts, knock me over. mwt878991 07-15-2006, 07:16 PM They will fix the problem up to 2000 models. They have the same problem with 2001 and up models but refuse to do anything about them. Mike :smokin: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
