1997 Lumina 3.1 parting out or whole tiggerabbi 07-09-2006, 07:38 AM
Hi if anyone is interested we have a lumina green in color that died friday and now we r either selling the whole thing except alternator or parting it out. It has many newer parts. Example fuel assembly we just put it 4/24/06. If anyone has had it done they know its expensive. Let us no if anyone is interested in anything. KenInKenmore 07-09-2006, 09:38 PM are the coil packs compatable with the 1990 3.1? (If those are availible and new aswell) gwmed 07-09-2006, 11:02 PM What color is the interior? I am needing some plastic parts. Thanks in advance tiggerabbi 07-10-2006, 05:36 AM we have never replaced the coil packs on the car so its the original ones from 2 years ago. As for interior its grey. Only thing missing right now is the alternator from the car. tiggerabbi 07-13-2006, 10:46 PM Car is sold. Thank heaven :p jeffcoslacker 07-13-2006, 10:50 PM Car is sold. Thank heaven :p Do any good? Did you buy that '95? tiggerabbi 07-14-2006, 07:07 AM The 95 we looked at had alot of problems even tho the guy selling it said it didnt. So no we didnt get the car. The one we sold in the end we got what we wanted for it. Wasnt much but enough to cover plates registration and such for another car plus some. Now there a 90 celebrity 2.8 and a 95 acheiva 3.1 we r looking at today. I mechanic / friend says there both good the other says dont touch the acheiva. Any opinions on either vehicle? Thanks for the help. tblake 07-14-2006, 10:55 AM achieva's came with a 2.4 quad for cylinder, that because of high compression, had a lot of problems with head gaskets and throwing rods. If the achieva your looking for has the 3.1, i dont think you have anything to worry about. The celebrity, being a 1990, i'd stay away from, because of the rear brakes. I had a 1990 lumina, and the rears needed complete overhaul every couple years. The 2.8 V6 is pretty much a 3.1 thought, and will last a while. If the celebrty has rear drum brakes, would be ok. jeffcoslacker 07-14-2006, 11:14 AM achieva's came with a 2.4 quad for cylinder, that because of high compression, had a lot of problems with head gaskets and throwing rods. Dead on. Even the wheel cylinders were prone to leaks in the rear drums on the Celebrities, but once replaced, they're fine, other than that, and their propensity for body rust, they were good enough cars... And I conccur about the Acheiva, the Quad 4 was what gave them a bad rap...and really the Quad 4's were a good motor, mechanics at the time just didn't understand them and hated them...and they did have some teething problems in the first years they were used... jeffcoslacker 07-14-2006, 11:16 AM Oh, yeah. TCC solenoid grenades on the Celebrity at 75,000 like clockwork... Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
