I just purchased an after market cd player. I was wondering where i could find the electric schematics so I can match up the wiring from the new deck to the old one....

I have an 04 Monte Carlo and successfully did the same thing you are going to attempt. I did alot of reserch and spent a lot of time considering my options and for some reason was one of the first of newer Monte Carlo Owners to break ground on this subject. (As far as I could find anyway.) Be carefull with the aftermarket stereos. I had a terrible time with mine, the lights and the control center went nuts when the new stereo was in place. The wiring wasnt the problem it was the non existence of the factory stereo. The car seems to depend alot on the existance of the control center within the factory stereo. There is a wiring kit that you can get that will allow you to keep the factory stereo in the car somewhere for use to control the in dash control center. I mounted mine in the glove box for easy access. This allows me to still access the valuble options the control center has to offer. The wiring kit fools the on board computer into thinking that nothing has been changed. I am not 100% sure if this problem goes as far back as 01 but just a little info just in case. Good luck with your install.

Morgin, your 04 uses GM's data serial bus and the radio is an integral part of the interior wiring, the 01 doesn't. You can buy an adaptor harness for your 01 that will plug the aftermarket radio into the factory radio harness with no splicing of the car's wiring.

I would be glad to email you the pictures, as I can't post any attatchments here. My email is available if you or anyone else is interested in seeing pictures of the glove box mounted original stereo.

Cheers
