Updateblk_srt 07-05-2006, 07:52 PM Today I did a little work on the talon. Basically just checking the basics. Plugs and wires where in good shape, no holes in the pistons:lol: It has compression, I didnt check it because they wanted $50 for a gauge and I didnt have that much. I did however get a caliper and was going to test cw but damn the car is to low so I need to jack it up to test that. The spark plugs smelled of gas. If I do end up having to pull it, is it easier to pull the motor and trans as a unit or seperatly? Thor06 07-05-2006, 08:53 PM Its easier as a whole. Just ask Talon69, he pulled it just the engine, realized what a bitch it was, then pulled the tranny, stuck it on the engine and then put it in the car. Blackcrow64 07-05-2006, 09:43 PM Way easier as a whole. When I put mine all back in thats how it'll be goin down. blk_srt 07-05-2006, 11:06 PM Ok, Tomorrow I'm going to go out and check for cw, if by chance its not that(crosses fingers that it is for an easy diagnosis) then I guess I'll go get a compression tester and if its not that then I'm stumped. Because honsetly what else would cause stalling, no throttle responce, but perfect running in the high rpm ranges? Talon69 07-05-2006, 11:13 PM Its easier as a whole. Just ask Talon69, he pulled it just the engine, realized what a bitch it was, then pulled the tranny, stuck it on the engine and then put it in the car. Oh boy alot easier to pull it all together!!! I pulled the engine by itself but it also took me 4 hours!!! no bullshit i had to do way to much shit. When i put the engine back in with tranny it only took me like 20 minutes to get it dropped and in place for the mounts ;) E-Klips 07-06-2006, 08:11 PM Its way easier to pull it separate. I can have the engine and tranny out in about an hr. Pull the tranny/t-case in less than 45mins and then just 1 motor mount and the engine is out. If you leave the tranny on the block, you still have to disconnect the t-case and axles which is easier to do when you pull the tranny. Then you dont have to worry about tilting the engine/tranny to get it out. blk_srt 07-07-2006, 12:24 PM Ok, update time. End play is .020 so she walked. I'm going to go with the stage 2 stroker kit from SBR. I talked to Mark today and he said that kit will handle upwards of 900whp and its only $1499 so I'm pretty excited. vanilla gorilla 07-07-2006, 01:38 PM Sweet, not the crank walk but the decision to stroke. What are you going with 2.3? blk_srt 07-07-2006, 04:25 PM yeah 2.3. I'll be running a 16g for a while on it to so I'll have some hella bottom end :) vanilla gorilla 07-07-2006, 04:47 PM Nice. Will you upgrade your turbo eventually? Your running small 16g right now right? Maybe by the time your ready for a turbo upgrade I will be out of debt and have some extra cash so you can sell me your s16g. :grinyes: blk_srt 07-07-2006, 05:32 PM eventually I'm planning on running a gt35 or 40 vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
