Did the mechanic give you a read out detailing exactly what failed?
Can't fix what you don't know is broke.

No not really... He took it to another mechanic who has the new inspection setup... He said everthing passed, but the lights on the keypad would not light... Basically what happens when something is posted as being wrong(although nothing was)... When he hooked it up to his own machine, which is just for diagnostics, again nothing was posted as being wrong...

Sorry if this is confusing blah

Need to know what lights on what keypad you are talking about. Don't know about the inspection procedures in New York, but in California you get a print out from the testing machine stating the detailed results of the test. I had a car pass the emmissions test but failed the inspection part. I looked at the print out and noticed the tech entered missing for the catalytic converter. I then pointed this out to the tech and pointed to the catalytic converter (he had assumed it was installed under the car like most vehicles, not in the factory location for this particular make, under the hood). He redid the test and I passed

I think NY is similiar to NJ where I live. And in NJ there is also 2 parts to inspection, (emissions and safety). Did you go to a state inspection station or a privately owned one?

It was a private shop... They called the DMV and turns out some Fords are having problems with their adaptors... New one has been ordered and will be in next week!

Ok so i misunderstood... Ford has 2 different adaptors on some cars... So the shop had to order a new one for their machine, to fit my car... After that everything was fine!
