so i have a 92 t-bird and its been setting from about 3 years and we finally got her running a month or so ago, and today (the first time its been driven more than a mile) it brike down :banghead: . i thought it ran out of gas, which i think it did. it was runnig great, then it started having a little miss, then it lost power and, i figured it was out of gas. so i ran down to the gas station, thankfully very close the highway entrance ramp where i ran out of gas. Went and got a gallon, put it in and the car started, within a few seconds, befre even going in gear, it started missing again and died. to finish it up, it wont start now. im very sure its the fuel system and im guessing its the fuel pump or fuel filter since it sat so long. mabye some injectors? i dont really know, oh and i tryed to reset the pump but it did nothing, and looked at the fuses which looked fine. then i had to have the car pushed by my dads truck a few miles and its setting at my friends house and i need it fixed fast. THANK YOU ALL for any and all help! :iceslolan

You need to make sure it has enough fuel for the pick-up tube in the gas tank.
If you ran it out of fuel, you may have burned up the pump.
Check the fuel pressure at the rail. Then try some injector cleaner.

Whenever a car sits for that long without fuel stabilizer in the gas you should ALWAYS drain the entre tank and change the filter. Also check the lines and make sure that none of them have spung a leak. 3 years is a long time. Especially for the more modern day computer controlled cars with plastic composite everything.

Before we started it once it was repaired i suggested draining the tank, however it seems that my father never has the pacients to do it now (even though that leaves him with alot more problems later on) so he went ahead and started it, to my supprise it ran fine. however i mentioned again my opinion about how something is bound to go wrong with 3 year old gas. And guess what? i was right.

Also i check before and after the first time it was started for any leaks, as well i check all the fluids (of course) and checked for any rotten lines, again to my supprise nothing look like it had gone bad and nothing leaked.

Well, i really want to get working on it. i hope i got lucky (like winning the lottery lucky) and the fuel pump pickup just wasnt able to pick up any of the gallon of gas i put in.

Once more i have to say THANK YOU to everyone for any help/comments/opinions/or any input at all.
