I need some assistance here... yesterday while driving the car....I went to roll the drivers side power window down and heard a pretty big metallic bang.:uhoh: .

and then the window no longer worked... it was stuck about halfway down... I tried using the switch to get the window up and I had nothing at first... except that the motor worked going down while trying to roll the window down...I noticed a cable that started creeping up between the inside of the glass and the window seal..
While trying to roll the window up I heard no window motor at all.. I could grab the window and manually push it up but it wouldn't stay...it dropped back down to about halfway up..

I kept messing with it and for some reason it seemed that the motor worked and the window started rolling back up... I finally got it all the way up and closed tight.. Now, I obviously don't want to try anything else until I can get the door panel off and look at what I have inside in there and how bad it might be..

Does anyone have any ideas about what happened and how do I get he door panel off... by the way, I tried downloading the manual for the Camry on this website but I can't get the .rar to work so I can download and read the manual..
:feedback:

Help me out here...
Thanks in advance,
Kevin

I think there is also a generation 3 manual on the Camry forum of Toyotanation.com that you can download.

Here's the link:

A direct link to that manual is in the Camry Manuals sticky post, along with the RAR download.

"a pretty big metallic bang..."

That's exactly what happened to my windows (both driver and passenger sides) about 5 years ago. They happened only a few months apart. I heard it's pretty common problem on gen 3 Camry.

I had the dealer to fix it. They said the window regulators were broken. When it broke, it also broke the motor housing so I had to replace them both. It costed me more than $400 per side.

It's expensive repair. So why don't you download the manual and tackle it yourself?
