2000 civic dx performancesr156 08-08-2002, 03:51 AM I have a 2000 Honda civic dx. I don't know much about cars. I test drove a 2002 civic hatch back, SI. it was better than my car but I can't afford one. What can I do to my car to make it better. Remeber I'm just a beginner so talk like I'm retarded. black 00 civic dx 08-08-2002, 06:34 PM sup sr156, i got a 2000 dx coupe, i love it, only had for few months, but u kno about that.... first stuff i did was the radio, i CANNOT tolerate tuner only, sucks big pelotas de burros, so dumped jensen mp501k in, some low quality stuff right ther, but its mp3, 22w rms/ch , auxiliary input, blah blah im yapping, but performance wise, if your on budget get a ratchet, and a 12mm socket and crawl under where you muffler is , and unbolt it and squeeze the two rear-most mounts out, and theres your muffler (extra parts) shove it in garage if you get exhaust ticket, i have never gotten pulled over in mine though... ummm take your upper timing cover off, doesnt add 18.9 hp or anything but looks cool with the 2 belts going next to each other =) , if you get rims dont get anyything smaller than 17's, 16 looks dumb , and sell your stockies on ebay. imma try out some nology wires, adj. cam gear, greddy evo exhaust (go 96-00 dx coupe) or apexi world sport or n1....decisions... oh yeah almost forgot the coolest stuff, cp cold air intake : i like this one better than aem or injen because its less than half the price and unlike aem , its filter plus two pipes, not one (more adjustability) i got mine on ebay for 80 or so. waiting on my COUSTIC (weak performance technikue or however those hippies spell there sh*t) 601se after my 401se got jacked outta my firends car (let hime borrow my ppi 10's box and amp, im stupid huh? well its all gone now, so now i got mtx 6000 SVC 12's in bass tubes, LA strike digi cap, 4ga wires, and the coustic amp. but if you want cool noises from engine pull out trusty ol ratchet and take out the resonator box (not the one in back middle of engine, but front left) i believe it was two 10 or 11mm bolts and thatll add for db's on the intake side, and tape off the two inlet/outlet holes in the plastic pipe. tape them good... i dont know if i sounded like a hoecake being all informative but thats what i did and it hasnt been that expensive, just hte damned 17's, $650 with kumho 711 40 series...but about that 02 si u test drove, those hoes got there shi* easy, already a built platform, but dx's and ex's are funner to tinker with...get an ex turbo kit and move the cat (second weaksauce thing on the dx, cat and manifold are one piece) downstream, but i see more si turbos than lower models... anyways, take what u can get and work it, have fun, dont be afraid to open up your sh*t and start pullin stuff , all u need intake wise is the filter and pipe, have fun im out reply lemme know whats up with your ride. brak 08-11-2002, 09:21 PM im in the DX club too guys, 98 coupe i put on an air intake. cut the muffler off and added a straight-thru type. i went with the free mod of tightening the throttle cable (haha). front strut tower bar. short-throw shifter. indiglo gauges. tachometer. alarm. CD deck w/ new speakers. ricey wing (hey, i like it, that's what counts). future- rear strut tower bar, front and rear sway bars, turbo kit or new engine (whatever ends up being cheaper), body kit, power locks, power windows, rims and tires (16 or 17's), full cat-back system. stick with the DX man, i know i have too (being locked into payments for a few more years, damn loans, haha) Metal Siren 08-13-2002, 07:17 AM ah the DX..you take what you can get right? mine is an auto so that's another notch in the slow belt. But.....with a little bit of tuning and tricks here and there, I can beat my friends 01EX, for alot less than what he put into his car. I was gonna go all loks but once my system got jacked, i was like "screw this" CF hood, I got the one w/the vent cause it cools off the engine 15" teg ls rims gutted interior custom exhaust home made CAI (don't laugh, it works better than the AEM one my friend has) 01Celica seats if you haven't noticed, I was going for weight saving..thats probably the only thing our car has over the other models is the weight advantage. black 00 civic dx 08-13-2002, 06:32 PM good shit metal siren :i got the dx automatic too! what year is yours?? why did u get 15's??? i got 17's with kumho 711's just wondering, cuz u didnt want to mess up drive ratio? lemme know ryan p.s. screw the picture thing , it wont go Metal Siren 08-13-2002, 09:40 PM I just got the 15s cause it was 340 with tires and they weight 15lbs each. black 00 civic dx 08-14-2002, 12:43 AM cool metal siren, i got mine for 650, i dont know if i said that already but oh well, it included locking nuts lifetime balancing, flat repair... anyways, what are you planning on doing to it next?? ryan Metal Siren 08-14-2002, 06:33 AM I'll probably do sparkplugs and wires next and drop it when I get a new job (delivering pizza sucks!) I'm into autoXing and great handling in a car so Im investing about 1200 into a set of progress full coilovers. I was impressed by them after seeing a stock del-sol with only thier coilovers do 1G around the cones. A $40,000+ Corvette ZO6 does .73 hmm?? But as for the major stuff, Im saving for an engine swap and auto to manual conversion, 4Ks at sparks for everything. If you in California, my friends and I are going to the california speedway on the 17th to race. Its in fontana on Cherry--->site www.californiaspeedway.com black 00 civic dx 08-15-2002, 12:56 AM metal siren, im in canoga park , 101 freeway at topanga/shoup/canoga . u know where that is? well either way cool, im going to work on suspension soon, after exhaust, but i got the pep boys brand (apc) adj. coilovers already bought, got them for 80 bucks new (hookups) people say they sqeek but i guess ill see, but people are quoting like 90 bucks per wheel, then 250 for all 4 and then i heard 125 for all.... wondering about this... but i wanna get some struts too, maybe air adjustable? thatd be nice, air ride civic. BAM anyways lemme know if you have some shops that do suspension, and any recommends for struts... ryan p.s. taking lady to disneyland sunday so i dont wanna get all raced out saturday wish i could though, plus i dont wanna get spanked too bad.... black 00 civic dx 08-15-2002, 12:59 AM go!! this is the shit, i just emailed turbomanifolds.com and they wrote back : "Ryan, hello, yes we make a manifold for your car. We can make it to fit just about any turbocharger. For your application we would recommend going with a t25 or tdo5 turbo. This will give you excellent drivability and be very reliable. All manifolds come with a 3 year warranty and turnaround time on the manifold is 3-5 days. Price on the manifold is $350. We also have available custom downpipes and turbochargers (new and used). Price on the downpipe is $150 and price on a tdo5 is $250. If you purchase the entire package we can give you $100 off the total. Thanks and we look forward to hearing from you. Forrest www.turbomanifolds.com Original Message ----------------------- hey guys, i am looking to go the turbo route with my 2000 civic coupe dx (single cam, non-vtec) because of its low compression. i am looking around and theyre are no bolton kits for it, so here i am, just wanted to get a quote on how much of of your manifolds would be for my car, if needed the engine code is d16y7. thank you, ryan" good stuff huh??? only 350, thats like a header! but with TURBO, downpipe and package deal, good stuff people all dx's should be turbo'ed sounds like i/h/e/ price is same as a turbo thru these guys, anyways im think this is happening soon, anyone got experience with turbos? looking for opinions ryan Metal Siren 08-15-2002, 06:17 AM how much is it for the turbo??? If I dont get the engine swap I might go with the EX head and turbo...I figured for 4000Ks for a B16a sawp I'll be running mid 15s, but an EX head with a turbo will get it lower. Its just that a B series engine is a better platform to start out on. black 00 civic dx 08-15-2002, 01:02 PM metal siren, i would think a lower compression (d series) would be better in the daily driver sense for forced induction, at least thats what i gather, of course theres more crap for a b series engine, but thats alotta money when you can get a turbo for way less than an engine swap. my .02$ ryan Metal Siren 08-16-2002, 03:29 AM true... But I was told that our engine wouldn't be able to handle anything past 7PSIs? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
