I have a 1990 Accord and was going to upgrade to a cold air intake (I have a Short Ram now) And I was looking at my car today, and could not figure out how the tube gets down into my wheel well. I just got done instaklling a CAI on my friends 1999 Civic Si and There was a hole from the stock intake for the new intake to go into. I dont have anything like that on my car! How would I install a Cold Air intake? Would I have to do some drilling? I have an APC short ram with K&N Filter now, would I be better off getting an AEM intake if I was to stick with the Short ram or does it not make any differance? Thanks!

well from what ive been told, it will help, but not alot. the whole 10degrees/1hp will give you a couple. and you dremel the hole yourself.

if you do decide to go with a coldair, be sure to get an aem. other than them and cp(some ghetto shit i saw on ebay) nothing else it legal... at least in CA where i live. luckily it hasnt happened to me, but i hear all the time how friends, or friends of friends getting pulled over and the cops tell them to pop the hood, and they love writing tickets for any intake, headers, breathers or blue bulbs you might have.

well, since I dont live in cali, I dont have to worry about anything (sometimes) thats under my hood. Anyways, like good 'ol strodda said, and He second'd (not a word) my motion to enlarge that little hole to shove my enormouse piping through the fender well. I tried a dremel but that was hella slow, so I used an air gun with a grinder tip and it cut like buttah. mine is a nakayama (more than likely a cheap brand) but I got a cheap deal from my friend at our import shop. since my car is unusually quick for being stock (don't ask, its weird), I can feel the difference when i hit about 4500-5000rpm. I swear ive even had a couple freako kids ask if it was one of those "rare" v-tec F22. anyways, good luck, pick what you want, try experimenting with both of them. and i messed up before, instead of 10 degrees, its 11.

damn you know what, i feel the same way. i know its nowhere near my friends type-r(im so fuckin jealous) but i too feel the difference. at a green light im usually stuck behind someone, but i leave it in first and around 3-4000rpm i floor it and passem up. and ill be damned if i dont feel a kick. i still havent had a chance to time my 0-60 or quarter time. im sure its slow as shit, but i still wanna know.

anyone got times on their 4th gens?

my gtech pro said something about a 15.7 something but i know it's bull because my car feels really slow

and for enlarging the hole for the cai i used a long scredriver and a big hammer. came out nicely thou.

damn, a screwdriver??? you one strong sob. that metal isnt the easiest to get through. i borrowed some strongass cutters, probably for sheet metal. and even that took a while.

on a side note, i love my accord, but we all know their slow and heavy, so why do teg and civic drivers insist on trying to race me all the time.i know i will never have a chance, and anybody who knows about cars should know that too. unless i have a swap and theyre stock, im not gonna win. i knew a type-r that beat a 92 accord w/turboed h22. so what chance in hell would i have in winning? just my 2cents.

mine takes off a bit slow, cause of the auto tranny, but other than that seems ok. maybe it's a bit too heavy for that engine, but you can have few chances on some cars
