95 camaro problem

Well my dad just bought a 95 camaro v6 3.4 auto and it has only 98,500 miles and it runs real strong and every thing but there is one problem we noticed. The oil has been changed and only has 1,000 miles on it. But we checked the oil and it was half a quart low. So we filled it and checked it and it is full, not over full, just right on the full mark. Well when he first starts it up it blows a puff of white smoke out the muffler and then stops smoking, but it does not run any diffrent just blows that out and that is all. White smoke means oil right? What do you guys think it can be from? I am going to clean his tb out good and intake tube because it has some oil gunk in it and have him run some injector cleaner in it and run a tank of gas through and see then. But what do you guys think?

white is antifreeze and in some cases trans fluid, but not in yours.

Blue would oil.

black is too rich, unburnt fuel.

it just had the waterpump replaced also but it is not leaking anywhere i can see. It can't be a head gasket can it because it does not run any diffrent. but it had to use oil somewhere since it was half quart low. it is not leaking any either that we know of so far.

Was it a quart low when you bought it? Did the guy just not fill it all the way up maybe? I have a little white smoke that's nearly impossible to see where I don't have a cat.

no the guy had the oil changed and it had 1,000 miles on it, but i checked the oil and it was 1/2 quart low. It blows out for about 3 sec. just when you start it tho.

Sounds like it's burning a little oil when it first starts up, probably just from being old. Some seals inside are probably just dried up or worn out and they are letting some oil by. Sorry but unless you rebuild it, it is probably going to do it all the time and you will just havr to drive it like that and keep filling it with oil every once in a while...

well he don't mind since it runs stronger than his 94 camaro v6 3.4 did and it had 115,000 and did not use a drop of oil, but oh well. runs strong if he just has to add a 1/2 quart of oil every once in a while oh well. He said he will sooner or later get it rebuilt. he is going to try some lucas first. But how much does it cost to get a 3.4 rebuilt?

My bet is on a internal intake manifold leak.

would that make it run any diffrent? is there any yest you can run on it to check?

IF it's an internal leak, no, you might not notice any change in performance, once it gets to outside atmopshere, then the OCM will raise the idle (add gas) to smooth it out, and reatain 14:1 fuel ratio.
